Having studied at art school in Sydney in the 1970s Kim Falkenmire became the Art Director at Cassells Publishing, and then freelanced for twenty years, designing and producing books, advertising and all manner of promotional material, for publishers such as the National Gallery of Australia, Oxford University Press and Ashton Scholastic.

She moved to the Tantawangalo Valley, Bega Shire, in the 1980s, farming and raising a family, eventually resuming an art practice in 2006. Since then she has been involved in many group and solo exhibitions in the Shire, Canberra and Sydney.

Her work is in collections in Australia, the USA and Japan.
